EDITORS’ MESSAGE

The E-Journal of Social Work is a peer-reviewed academic journal that covers research in the field of social work. This is an E- publication which disseminates and debates key ideas in research in social work. It also aims to advance theoretical understanding, shape policy, and inform practice. The Editor welcomes submissions from all fields of social work. The sister Journal of Social Work has become an indispensable resource for both social work academics and practitioners. The articles it has published over the years are of a high academic standard and, having established its reputation as one of the leading journals in the field, it will continue to serve as a focus for critical debates about issues facing social workers.
Today Social work has become an essential subject in the modern world. The contemporary world is riddled with problems which oppress and victimize powerless humans and the discipline of Social Work is committed to assist the disadvantaged individuals and communities all over the world.
Acquiring important knowledge on social issues is not so easy without e-technology. That is an easy and convenient way to access new knowledge globally in modern world. Information technology plays a major role in studying the systems for identifying and solving such problems. At present Social Development Policy and Publications Division of the National Institute of Social Development in Sri Lanka is entrusted with the responsibility, as a higher education institute for social work. The E-Journal of Social Work is a biannual publication to fulfill that need.
