The library at the NISD holds over 25,000 publications and it is at present the largest library in Sri Lanka holding many recent publications on Social work and related subjects. The library provides membership to the faculty and to the students of the Bachelor’s degree and Master’s degree programs in social work, Diploma/Higher Diploma in social work and Counselling programs. Both lending and reference facilities are available at this library.

The library is located on 1st floor of Wing B and it is open from 8.30 a.m. to 4.15 p.m. on week days and from 9.00 a.m. to 4.00 p.m. on weekends. At the commencement of the academic year, the students are issued with library membership upon payment of the library membership fee and the library refundable deposit at registration. Photo copying service is also available at this library.
